Disability Eligibility-Employees with Job Status Changes

This policy outlines short and long term disability eligibility for active Roosevelt University employees who change job classification and/or status.
A full time, clerical union employee who transfers to a full time, administrative or faculty position:
- If you have met the eligibility requirement for short and long term disability as a full time clerical employee, you are immediately eligible. Your short and long term disability coverage continues.
- If you have met the eligibility requirement for short term disability only as a full time clerical employee, you are immediately eligible for STD. You will be eligible to enroll in long term disability on the first day of October following your administrative or faculty date of hire.
- If you have not met the eligibility requirement for short and long term disability as a full time clerical employee, you will be eligible to enroll in both plans on the first of the month after your one year anniversary as an administrator or faculty member.
A part time, clerical union employee who transfers to a full time, administrative or faculty position:
- You must meet the eligibility requirement detailed in the short and long term disability policies. You will be eligible for short term disability after one year of continuous service in the full time position. You will be eligible for long term disability as of the first day of October following one year of continuous service in the full time position.
A part time administrator or faculty member transfers to a full time administrative or faculty position:
- You must meet the eligibility requirement detailed in the short and long term disability policies. You will be eligible for short term disability after one year of continuous service in the full time position. You will be eligible for long term disability as of the first day of October following one year of continuous service in the full time position.
Part time Roosevelt employees (whether clerical, administrative or faculty) who had comparable coverage with a concurrent, full time employer for at least one year may have this eligibility period waived with proof of previous coverage.
