Dependents of Deceased Retired Employees
Human Resources

Covered dependents of deceased retired employees are covered for 90 days, on a reimbursement basis, under the University's health plan in which the retired employee was enrolled at the time of death. For coverage beyond the 90-day extension period the following policies apply:

  • COBRA continuation is available to all dependents not eligible for Medicare.
  • if at your date of retirement you had less than 20 years of full-time continuous employment with Roosevelt University and your last full time employment was with Roosevelt University, your dependents may convert to an individual policy if they are not eligible for Medicare.
  • if at your date of retirement you had 20 or more years of full-time continuous employment with Roosevelt University your dependents may, as an alternative, choose to continue coverage through the University's health plan on a reimbursement basis, until they are no longer eligible dependents (i.e. children are no longer dependent, a spouse remarries).
