Why We Work at Roosevelt University
Human Resources

Dr. Lisa Amoroso, assistant professor of management in the Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration, loves the diversity at Roosevelt University. "It's a window into the real world and brings great discussion into the classroom," she says. After teaching at several other universities, she calls teaching at Roosevelt her "dream job."

Dr. Cornelius Watson, associate professor of Biology and Department of Biological, Chemical, and Physical Sciences Chair.“Roosevelt’s faculty and staff are dedicated and truly care about student success. There is a friendly and cordial atmosphere on campus. I am very proud to call myself a member of the Roosevelt community!”

David Schrader, professor of Music, The Chicago College of the Performing Arts. Among the many things that make me happy to work at Roosevelt University is the wonderful relationships that I enjoy with my colleagues here. Please understand that, by "colleagues," I mean members of the administration, the staff and the faculty. People are more than civil, there is an openness in sharing of ideas, and I feel that most everyone that I meet and everyone with whom I communicate are trying to "go the extra mile" to promote the sort of relationships that foster excellence in learning and teaching. If our motto is to be "students first," this synergy among those who make the school go, as it were, is essential and most welcome.

Denise Bransford, chief of staff, Office of the President. I first came to Roosevelt because I was attracted to its mission.  I thought how special it would be to be a part of a University that means so much to so many.  Little did I know then that I would have the privilege of playing a larger role than I could have ever imagined. I love my job as Chief of Staff at Roosevelt because of the many opportunities that I have to assist students in completing their dreams of becoming an RU graduate.  I love the collegiality and support of my co-workers and the shared commitment to living our mission.  It’s a great place to work and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else!

Rose Sanchez, senior secretary, College of Arts & Sciences. I was initially attracted by the historical ambiance Roosevelt University carries, not only in its buildings but also in the people that embody its history. I feel like part of a bigger picture and in spite of our everyday lives we can come to work and feel that we are contributing.

Norma Moore, administrative secretary, Enrollment & Student Services. I was amazed to hear how long some of the employees had been working here when I started… many for 15, 20, 25 years.  I remember thinking, “Wow, that’s a long time to be at one place of employment.  I’ll never be here that long”.  I could not imagine being here for so long.   Last year Susan Rhode introduced me to some new employees she was taking on a tour of the University as part of her Orientation Program.  When she explained I was a 25 year employee of RU the expression on their faces was exactly how I felt when I first came to RU.  The years have gone by so fast because I enjoy working with my co-workers (administrators and staff), the faculty and especially the students.  The students are our reason for being here and it is rewarding to be able to help so many.  I am PROUD to say I am a member of the Roosevelt University Community.
