Applying for SUMMER 2008 Financial Aid

We encourage students NOT TO REGISTER for summer classes until they have determined that they have sufficient resources to cover the tuition and fees. Since the summer term is at the tail end of our academic and financial aid award year, eligibility for summer financial aid is limited. Additionally, since the summer is comprised of several mini-sessions within the semester - financial aid will not be disbursed, and final elgibility not determined, until the last session that you are enrolled in (to make up your enrollment status) begins.

Financial Aid options for Summer 2008 consist of:

Federal Student Loans and
Private Credit Based Alternative Loans

Note: A first time loan borrower, based on their cost of attendance, may be able to borrow the annual federal loan maximums for the summer term. Continuing or transfer students who received federal loans within the last 9 months will have limited amount of funding available. Please contact the Office of Financial Aid if you have additional questions.

Understanding the Summer Financial Aid Process:

The deadline to complete all Summer Financial Aid requirements is July 1, 2008.
Be prepared to submit a copy of your 2006 Federal Tax Return(s) and supporting documentation, if requested.
Non-Degree Seeking, Student-At-Large, Summer-Only, and Incarcerated Students are not eligible for financial assistance.
Loan funds are disbursed during the last session in which you have enrolled for the Summer 08 term. Eligibility for aid will be re-evaluated at that time.
Dropping below half-time (6 hours) will cause you to lose federal loan eligibility.
Students must use their own resources to purchase books.

Required Forms:

A 2007-2008 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) electronic application.

A Federal Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Loan Counseling Form, only if you are a first time Roosevelt borrower and are interested in federal loans. Note: Please sign the MPN in blue ink, an original signature is required by the lender and submit the application to the financial aid office.

Complete a 2008 Roosevelt University Summer Loan Questionnaire.
