Here's what some of our graduates have to say about our program...
Leslie Rae TRDV Class of '03 I think being able to say I have completed my masters in T&D has provided more credibility for me when dealing with others in our organization. In some way, I feel I use nearly all of what I learned in the program. In my current position as Training Director, I don’t use much in terms of the design skills I learned, but use consulting, curriculum development, change management, org comm., etc regularly. Being able to network and learn from other training professionals and instructors was the best part for me. I also thought doing the final research project was an invaluable experience in developing and testing a theory, gathering data, making recommendations for solution and preparing the paper.
Danielle Langford TRDV Class of '08 My experience here at Roosevelt University has been a blessed one. The reason I say that is from the people I had met in the classroom, to all of those I had met along the way, made it more than an educational journey. When I first joined Roosevelt University I met an Advisor who was patient, kind, and always had her door open. She even introduced me to the Training and Development Program when I completed my Bachelors Degree. The people are always willing to assist in any way they can. And that, for me, made it more than just an educational institution. People truly make the difference. And now that I have completed my Masters Degree I will encourage others to become a student at Roosevelt.
Lamont Holifield TRDV Class of '06 The Training and Development program at Roosevelt University is of world-class caliber. The professors are committed to equipping students with the knowledge required to transform companies. Initially, I enrolled in the program in hopes of getting the paperwork to back up the eight years of training and development work experience. This program transformed my thinking and provided me with the additional tools I needed to advance in the workplace (instruction design, program and curriculum development, and evaluation methods). I received my M.A. in Training and Development in December 2006. This knowledge has enabled me to become the Director of Training and Development in the Inside Sales Department at Presstek, Inc.
Dawn Smith TRDV Class of '04 I am writing to tell you how influential and important my MA degree in Training and Development has been to my career. After graduating from Roosevelt in 2004, I was hired as an Online Adjunct Professor at a well-known state university. I feel it was my extensive experience with Distance Education (both through classes as well as a Graduate Assistantship) that helped me earn this position. I have now been accepted into a doctoral program in Occupational and Technical Studies. And again, I credit a significant part of that achievement to the education I received at RU. I learned so much from the faculty and their experiences and had the opportunity to explore my interests in adult learning through research for my final project. Everything taught in the classes is practical and ‘real-world’ and was immediately applicable to my job as a Technical Instructor. I have to admit, when I first enrolled at Roosevelt, I had no intention of pursuing a degree – I already had one Masters Degree – I was simply interested in taking a few classes to help advance my career in training. But after attending only one class, and meeting many of the faculty and staff members, I committed to the full degree program. It was their understanding of the industry and willingness to help each of their students excel that were the deciding factors. I quickly realized that Roosevelt and the Training and Development program were the right choices for me and I hope you’ll join me in becoming an RU Alum!
Reggie Jackson TRDV Class of '06 Entering the TRDV Graduate Program is one of the best things I ever did for myself. When I entered the program I was in banking as a Fraud Analyst and training was a part of my job. Shortly after entering the program, I decided to leave the company I had worked for over 25 years by accepting a position as a Training Specialist at LaSalle Bank, got promoted within a year then we merged with Bank of America – and I was offered a position as an Instructional Designer with Bank of America. I know that in addition to my extensive banking background, my Master’s degree in Training and Development made a difference in my selection. Monica Reilley TRDV Class of '07 The learning experiences I have received in the TRDV program will help me to achieve my career goals. The instructors are very passionate about what they are teaching and they help students to be successful in the program. I strongly encourage others to apply to this program!
When I decided that I would further my education I spent a significant amount of time researching the options available. Although I had a lot of criteria for my school of choice to meet, the one over-arching issue was that the degree had to be focused on Training, and it had to be completely online. I looked at many schools, and I'm sure there were many good ones, but I also wanted my master's degree to come from a "Brick and Mortar" school. I wanted to attend an established university with a proven track record of high educational standards. I found just what I wanted at Roosevelt University. After 2 years and graduating May 2008, I could not be happier with the outcome! Roosevelt University is a place staffed by great people, a wonderful faculty and an excellent support staff, to include IT and all aspects of the virtual learning world. If you are thinking about furthering your education "Think Roosevelt University" would be my advice!
