Transitions: The Quick Link to Graduate Programs

Transitions is designed for adult students whose ultimate goal is a graduate degree but who have not yet completed their undergraduate studies.  By combining

the time-shortened Bachelor of General Studies or Bachelor of Professional Studies degrees with master's degrees at Roosevelt University, students can often achieve their long-term goal of a graduate degree in about the same time it would normally take them to complete a traditional undergraduate degree alone.

How It’s Done

The goal of the Transitions program is to streamline the student's progress from undergraduate to graduate studies. Students commit to the Transitions program within the first two semesters of their undergraduate study. With this commitment, students will be admitted to the appropriate graduate programs with no application fee and no deficiencies.  Of course, students need to maintain the grade point average required for admission to the graduate program of choice.

Six of the Transitions programs replace two undergraduate courses in the student's last semester of the undergraduate work with two graduate courses, enabling students to enter graduate school in the last semester of undergraduate work. However, students who do not complete the combination Transitions program must take the missing undergraduate courses in order to graduate.  Other Transitions programs may not reduce the number of courses, but they do ensure that the student can enter the graduate program with no areas of deficiency, assuring that they will get the most out of their graduate programs.

Transitions students receive their BGS or BPS degrees after completion of their undergraduate requirements. They apply to graduate school when they register for the last semester of undergraduate classes, but they pay no application fee.  Acceptance into the graduate programs requires completion of all undergraduate requirements and the appropriate GPA. Only Roosevelt graduate programs are offered through Transitions.
