Program of Study The English Language Program offers conversation, grammar, reading, and writing courses at three levels of instruction: beginning, intermediate, and advanced. There is one additional composition course at the transition level. All students who enter the English Language Program complete placement testing that determines the courses that they will take. Based on their placement test results, students who have been accepted into degree programs at Roosevelt University enroll for either a full-time load of ELP classes (four classes) or a combination of ELP and other university classes. Students who have been admitted for ELP Only generally take a full-time load of ELP classes. Classes are kept small so that students can participate and receive individual attention. ELP teachers are trained specialists who have extensive experience in teaching English to speakers of other languages. Undergraduate students can receive up to 12 semester hours of academic credit for their ELP classes. Degree-seeking students must complete all ELP classes that are required on the basis of their placement tests results. |
