Completion of major course of study in conjunction with Secondary Education Certification

Undergraduate students are required to meet regularly with their major advisor to review requirements for the completion of the major in the program as specified by the conferring college and then meet with their advisor in the College of Education each semester.

General Education Requirements

Students must meet all general education requirements appropriate to the college in which he/she is receiving her/his BA.

• EDUC 210 Human Development for Educators
• SEED 301 Seminar in Secondary Education
• SPED 319 Exceptional Children and Youth
• SEED 350 Field Experience in Secondary Education
• SEED 360 Student Teaching and Seminar in the Secondary School

Methods of Teaching in Major Fields

• SEED 321 Methods of Teaching Secondary Business Education
• SEED 322 Methods of Teaching Secondary Science
• SEED 323 Methods of Teaching Middle School and Secondary Mathematics
• SEED 326 Methods of Teaching History
• SEED 327 Methods of Teaching Secondary English

Undergraduates are also strongly encouraged to complete the course EDUC 385 – Technology in the Classroom to better facilitate the integration of technology into classroom practice.
