College of Education Saturdays in Schaumburg Program
College of Education

Applications are now being taken for three programs in education offered completely on Saturdays.  They are:

  • A 36 semester hour, graduate level, initial certification program in elementary education.
  • An 18 semester hour endorsement program in bilingual/ESL for current teachers or teacher candidates.
  • An 11 semester hour approval program in special education for current teachers or teacher candidates.

The Fast Track Program in Elementary Education allows full time graduate students to earn their teaching certificate and a master’s degree in 18 months. All regular classes will be offered either on Saturdays or online.A new cohort will begin in September and will include nine hours of coursework in Fall 2007, Spring 2008, Summer 2008, and Fall 2008.

During Fall 2008, students will spend 15 weeks in full-time student teaching at an elementary school. Students in the cohort will graduate with a master’s degree and certification in December of 2008.

The Bilingual/ESL Endorsement Program will be offered with two courses available each term Fall 2007, Spring 2008, and Summer 2008.  Students may take one or both courses each term. Students beginning in Fall 2007 and taking both courses each term can earn their endorsement in August of 2008.
