College of Education

New students at the graduate level will meet with an academic advisor in the Early Childhood program, who will do a transcript analysis of the general education requirement deficiencies and certification content area deficiencies. The initial advising includes a general explanation of the certification process, the early childhood program, and the advisory process in the College of Education. At this time, a plan will be computer generated outlining the student’s proposed coursework sequence. During the first semester of enrollment, the student will be assigned a permanent advisor who will meet with the student each semester for registration and program review.  It is the student’s responsibility to schedule an appointment with her / his advisor each semester during the weeks of advising (November and March/April).

Undergrad students will be advised in the Advising Center until their advisor transfers the file to the College of Education.  This generally occurs when a student has achieved junior status and has taken and passed the Illinois Test of Basic Skills.
