Jumpstart Director Receives Award
College of Education

On Jan. 10, 2007 Renita Johnson, Site Director of the Roosevelt Jumpstart program received the Pearson Teacher Fellowship Appreciation Award at the Leadership Institute.  Cherise Moore, an ECHD Alum and Jumpstart Alum, nominated Renita and wrote a moving letter of  appreciation that was read at the January Institute.  The award was bestowed in appreciation for Renita's talent as a role model and mentor to Jumpstart Corps members and her outstanding dedication to Jumpstart's mission.  

Renita has completed 3 years as the Jumpstart Director at Roosevelt.  Pearson Publishing is a sponsor of Jumpstart and provides opportunities for Roosevelt's certified teachers to teach in the field of early childhood education through the Pearson Teacher Fellowship.   Cherise Moore is one of the RU ECHD Alums who received a fellowship after graduation.  She currently works at Christopher House.  Christina Saenz is another RU ECHD Alum who received a fellowship as well and works in a childcare center in Cicero.  Both worked with Renita and Jumpstart during their undergraduate studies here at Roosevelt.
