Elementary Education – Master of Arts 
Admission Requirements

Requirements for Admission to the University:

  • A completed application for Graduate Admission plus any applicable fees
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution
  • Official transcripts from all colleges attended that show a minimum 2.7/4.0 grade point average in all undergraduate coursework

(Students who have a cumulative grade point average between 2.5 and 2.69 may be admitted on probation with the approval of the department.)

  • A passing score on the Illinois Test of Basic Skills

Application for Continued Enrollment in the College of Education

To enroll in education courses in the College of Education in the traditional graduate program in elementary education beyond the first six hours of coursework, students must complete an application for continued enrollment.  In order to qualify, students must meet or have a plan to meet all general education requirements, successfully complete the first six hours of the education professional coursework with grades of B or better, and demonstrate dispositions and professional behavior appropriate for elementary teachers.
