Educational Leadership | College of Education

Applicants are required to have a 3.50 average (on a 4 point scale) for their master’s degree.

Required Application Documents

The items listed below are required for a complete application file and are sent to:

  • an application form and $25 non-refundable application fee
  • a current resume´ indicating education and positions held
  • official copies of all transcripts (both undergraduate and graduate)
  • three letters of recommendation (each with an accompanying rating scale).
  • an official GRE score (taken within three years of application)
  • an essay focusing on why you want to pursue an Ed.D. degree

The three recommendations , submitted on letterhead stationery, should be sent by individuals who can attest to your ability to pursue doctoral study successfully.

The essay:   This three-page document (12 point font, double spaced) should discuss your career goals and how a doctorate in educational leadership will help you achieve these.  Also indicate how, as an educational leader, having the doctorate would help bring about organizational change. 

Admisson Test Information

GRE information can be accessed at:

Roosevelt’s routing number for the GRE testing service is 1666.  This number is used to send results to the University.

The link to the GRE site also contains the location at which this exam may be taken.  The official score needs to be sent to The Office of Graduate Admission from the testing service so that the record can become part of your application file.  Note that although you can obtain your results from the GRE at the end of the testing session, for the score to be official it must be sent from the testing service.

Facilitating the Admission Process

Applicants are encouraged to keep in contact with the Office of Graduate Admission regarding the receipt of the necessary documents for application.

The Final Step

When your admission file is complete, the Office of Graduate Admission sends it to the Ed.D. Director.  If otherwise qualified, an appointment will be arranged for the required personal interview.

A Reminder

Please remember that the deadline for receipt of all application materials is April 15 of the year you wish to enter.
