Community Counseling The Community Counseling Program is designed to prepare students to work as professional counselors in the community agency setting. Students are required to take the following courses: Core courses for all students:
Specialized courses:
Practicum and Internship Placements Practica and internships are located in community agencies which focus on providing services to a select population within the community, such as youth and family services, substance abuse treatment, career counseling, gerontology counseling, and counseling for domestic violence. (Hours required: 150 hours for practica; 600 hours for internship) Licensure This CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs)-accredited program satisfies the academic requirements for licensure as a Professional Counselor and Clinical Professional Counselor in the State of Illinois.
