The purpose of this website is to help you find the information you need about administrator, counselor, or teacher certification through Roosevelt University.  The information provided is geared to Roosevelt students and may differ from certification offered through other colleges of education.  Wherever applicable, links have been provided to the pertinent Illinois State Board of Education websites that include the official rules and policies for certification in Illinois. 

The process of applying for certification in Illinois by completing an approved program of professional education is called certification through entitlement.  The institution offering the program must recommend you for the certificate after verifying that you have met all requirements.

You have dedicated yourself to becoming an excellent administrator, counselor, or educator.  You have spent time, money, and effort and now you are ready to receive the recognition you deserve in terms of official certification.  The goal of the Roosevelt University Certification Officer is to guide you through the paperwork needed to document your fulfillment of state regulations and then to enter your official entitlement notification into the ISBE computer system. 

The certification process itself has been greatly simplified and streamlined.  In the not too distant past, it took months to receive your official certificate.  By following the certification procedures you will find detailed in these pages, you will have your certificate within a week of completion of the application process!
