College of Education

The College of Education at Roosevelt University understands that practicing educators must continually update their knowledge and instructional strategies in order to meet the challenges inherent in a dynamic and increasingly global society.  In addition, the College of Education recognizes that 21st century educators are likely to change or modify the nature of their work/certification several times over the duration of their careers.

It is for these reasons that the College of Education offers a wide variety of high quality professional development opportunities for practicing teachers, counselors, and administrators.  Regardless of whether you work in a child care center, elementary school, middle school, high school, school district, or community college, we have a program that can help you to achieve your goals and take your career to a new level of accomplishment.

Graduate degree programs are specifically designed for already certified educators who want to update their teaching skills or acquire additional leadership expertise and certification.  These programs require between 30-41 credit hours of graduate coursework, and may lead to a certificate in teaching, administration, or school service.

Approval and endorsement programs are especially designed for already certified teachers who want to acquire additional state approval to teach specialized content and/or student populations.  These programs require between 6-18 credit hours of coursework, and lead directly to a Roosevelt University recommendation for an approval or endorsement upon an already existing teaching certificate.

Certificate programs are designed for already certified educators who want to acquire additional expertise and/or credentialing within an innovative sequence of graduate study.  These programs require between 9-12 credit hours of coursework, may be partially or entirely online, and lead either to a Roosevelt University or national certificate.

Professional development workshops and institutes are designed for already certified teachers who are looking to enhance their skills, network with similarly inclined colleagues, and move into leadership positions.  Workshops and institutes provide CPDUs to participants, as well as opportunities for graduate credit and leadership development.  Click on the link below to learn more about these innovative programs.
