Clinical Hours and Field Placements for Bilingual/ESL Program
For each course involving clinical field hours, students must submit an online application for Field Experience. Students must indicate the specific number of hours they intend to complete for that course in the special comments section. Please note that clinical hours for any course must be completed during the semster in which the course is offered, but can be begun and/or completed outside the 7-week span of the class meetings. Clinical hours must be completed in bilingual or ESL K-12 settings with the exception of hours associated with EDUC 370/470: Cross-Cultural Studies for Teaching Limited English Proficient Students, which may be completed in any cross-cultural setting approved by the course instructor. Any additional hours needed to reach the 100-hour total (beyond those associated with coursework) may be completed at any point during the program. Clinical hours not associated with specific coursework must still be completed in K-12 bilingual or ESL settings and students must secure their own placements. Prior to beginning these placements, students must request site approval and any necessary paperwork by e-mailing Monica Kielar, Field Placement Officer (mkielar@roosevelt.edu) indicating the placement site, the classroom setting, and the number of hours. Verification of hours forms for self-placements should be submitted to Caleb Paull, program coordinator. cpaull@roosevelt.edu
