Title II Information |

In October 1998, the
Higher Education Reauthorization Act passed by the U.S. Congress mandated
that all government funded colleges
with teacher preparation programs develop and publish an annual report on
their teacher education programs. Included in the report are information on
student teaching, the pass rates of program completers on state tests (Basic
Skills and Content), and contextual information reflecting on the quality of
the teacher preparation program. Below is the information for Roosevelt
University's College of Education for the 2005-2006 academic year (July 1,

| Teacher Preparation
Programs: |

Roosevelt offers programs leading to Illinois Teacher
Certification in Secondary (English, Math, Biology, Chemistry, Physics,
History, Spanish, Theater, Business), Elementary, Early Childhood, Special
Education, and Music Education.
Accelerated programs are available in Elementary Education and in K-12
Music Education. Practicing teachers
can pursue certification as school counselors, reading specialists, or
educational administrators; Roosevelt also offers ESL/Bilingual and Special
Education Certificate Approval programs.
The Master of Arts in Teacher Leadership prepares teachers for
National Board Certification. |

Roosevelt students’ average age is 30 years old; students in
Education average 31 years of age, and many come to the College of Education
with their B. A. completed. Most
education students complete their degrees while working full-time; 39% are
full-time students. Education students
are diverse, with 42% being minorities. |

• Secondary applicants must also have the recommendation of a
faculty member. |
