Editorial Responsibility for Content of our Public Web Sites As approved by the Information Technology Steering Committee The public Web site of the university is a publication of the university. No content on it should be inconsistent with the mission of the university, its goals, and its strategic objectives. To ensure such consistency, each page on the public web site must be under the editorial purview of one responsible party, i.e., a local site editor. The Webmaster shall be responsible for overseeing the decisions of the local site editors. If the Webmaster considers a page to be inconsistent with the mission, goals, and objectives of the university, he shall have the right to remove such a page. The local site editor may appeal the decision of the Webmaster to the Associate Vice President for Information Technology. It is to be understood that some Web content served from public university Web sites, including but not limited to www.Roosevelt.edu, may be of the nature of a forum, intended to post and solicit views and opinions not necessarily expressing those of the university, or artistic expressions, which likewise are not necessarily intended to express the mission, outlook, opinion, or aesthetic sensibility of the university. In cases like these, a disclaimer should be posted noting that the content, while hosted by the university, does not imply the endorsement of it. |
