Using Outlook at Roosevelt
Outlook | Computer Training | DoIT

Outlook 2000/2003 is the standard e-mail program used at Roosevelt (your e-mail account is also accessible through a web interface). While sending and receiving mail is usually simple enough, managing your e-mail account is a little less intuitive. Primary among the managing functions is filing and deleting messages from the server. Roosevelt e-mail accounts are limited to 5 megabits of server space. This page will show you how to delete mail from the server and move mail to folders.

Deleting E-mail from the Server

There are two ways to delete mail from the server.

1. Delete the message AND empty the Deleted Items folder. Once this is done, the message is gone forever.

2. The other option is to move mail into folders that you create. This takes the message off the server but leaves it in the folder so you can still access it. This option is covered via the links below.

Delete the message AND empty the Deleted Items folder

1. With the message you want to delete selected, click the delete icon or use the delete key on the keyboard. This will move the message into the deleted items folder.

2. Right-click on the "Deleted Items" icon, and choose Empty "Deleted Items" Folder. Any messages in this folder will be deleted from the server.
