Reviewing the Junk E-mail Options There are some global options to the Junk E-mail filter that you can set. To see a list of options: 1. On the menu bar, click
Tools | Options. Click on the Junk E-mail button. 2. The first tab in the Options window (below) allows you to set the level of filtering Outlook will do. The Low setting is recommended. The High setting should only be used if you are truly inundated with spam and the Low setting isn't working well enough for you--note that if you use the High setting you will experience more "false-positives," that is, more legitimate mail will be misclassified as junk and moved to the Junk E-mail folder.
3. Do not use the Safe Lists Only option. 4. You should not use the "Permanently delete suspected junk e-mail..." option. If you do, then you will not have the opportunity to review the messages before they are deleted and you may lose legitimate e-mail misidentified as junk. |
