Computer Classrooms and Labs
Academic Computing Handbook 2007-2008 | DoIT

In computer classrooms there is a computer workstation for each student. Several general-use computer classrooms are located at each university location and are open to instructors in every academic program in the University. Additional computer classrooms are used exclusively by college. Requests for use of computer classrooms should be submitted at the same time that regular class scheduling requests are made (usually about 6 months in advance of a semester). Make sure that you inform your Department Chair or Dean that you would like the use of a computer classroom for your class. Computer classrooms can be reserved for one, two, many, or all class sessions during a semester. When conflicting requests are received, shared usage is obligatory. For courses taught at the Chicago campus, requests should be submitted to the Registrar’s office. For Schaumburg courses, requests should be directed to Laurie Cashman, Director of Administrative Services. Laurie can be reached at lcashman@roosevelt.edu or 847-619-7990.

It is sometimes possible to obtain occasional computer classroom time during the course of an ongoing semester. Such requests should be made to the ETRC as much in advance as possible. Request forms are available online the ETRC web page .

Computer laboratories at all three University locations are configured like computer classrooms but are not reserved for classes and are available for walk-in student use. These laboratories are for the exclusive use of registered Roosevelt students. They may not be used for regularly scheduled classes. Policy, schedule, and software availability information is available on the computer lab web page.

Computer labs and classrooms are supervised by ETRC. For assistance contact Al Nagy, ETRC director, at anagy@roosevelt.edu or 312-341-3654. Technical support for the computer labs is provided downtown by Vincent Perkins (vperkins@roosevelt.edu or 312-341-3892), and at Schaumburg by Nicholas Pluta npluta@roosevelt.edu or 847-619-8361.)
