Broadcast E-mail and Roosevelt News
Academic Computing Handbook 2007-2008 | DoIT

In order to minimize spam, mass distribution of individual email messages to the Roosevelt University community is prohibited. However, approved e-mail messages may be sent to all members of the University community via the daily Roosevelt Broadcast Digest (Roosevelt News). To qualify for inclusion, a message should be of interest to every member of the University community and should be directly related to regular University activities. Promotions of personal activities taking place off-campus, advertisements for particular courses and programs of study, lost and found announcements, and for-sale messages are always prohibited.
Lost and found and for-sale announcements may be posted on the Announcement board of the University Intranet at
http://intranet.roosevelt.edu.

Requests to consider a message for broadcast should be sent via the web form at http://www.roosevelt.edu/rbd

The following rules should be observed: (1) Every message should have a subject line and a sender; (2) contact information of the sender should always be included in the message; (3) the message should not include attachments; (4) messages should be submitted at least 3 days in advance in the form of an MS Word document; (5) messages should be composed entirely in plain text with no special formatting such as bold, italic, centered text, or tabbed columns. Using plain text is dull, but it is the only way to guarantee that every computer user will be able to read the News. No message will be distributed more than twice.
