Chicago College of Performing Arts
Andrew Grams, assistant conductor of the Cleveland Orchestra, was the guest conductor at Vivid ’07, the Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) largest concert of the season.  More than 1,100 people attended the performance on Monday, March 26 in the Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University. The concert also featured CCPA faculty soloists Robert Chen, concertmaster of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra (CSO), John Sharp, principal cellist of the CSO, and Meng-Chieh Liu, an Avery Fisher Career Grant winner.
 
Chicago College of Performing Arts
At a pre-concert reception for Vivid ‘07, President Chuck Middleton (right) and James Gandre, dean of the Chicago College of Performing Arts, welcomed Nelson Cornelius, trustee of the Julius N. Frankel Foundation, which was a Gold Sponsor for the concert. The foundation has been a generous sponsor of CCPA.
 
Social Justice High School
Eddie Arruza, a correspondent for WTTW’s “Chicago Tonight” program, interviewed President Chuck Middleton about Roosevelt’s partnership with Social Justice High School for a feature on immigrant students. The segment is scheduled to run on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m. on Channel 11.

Chicago 2016 Stir the Soul
At the Near South Planning Board luncheon titled “Chicago 2016 Stir the Soul” on Thursday, March 22, President Chuck Middleton (left) introduced the keynote speaker, Doug Arnot, director of venues and operations for the Chicago 2016 Exploratory Olympic Committee. Arnot discussed the committee’s plans for hosting the 2016 Summer Olympics and presented computer images of the possible sites for various sports.  President Middleton is a member of the planning committee for the 2016 Olympics.

Institute for Continued Learning

One of Roosevelt’s Institute for Continued Learning (ICL) peer leaders, Stan Gorcik, talks about immigration patterns in the United States. His study group, “The Immigration Story,” discusses how and why the many ethnic groups came to the United States. With over 400 members, the ICL offers active adults age 50 years and better the opportunity for lifelong, peer-led learning opportunities, featuring study groups and lecture series.

 
Good Morning Schaumburg

Roosevelt University’s Arthur Rubloff Professor of Policy Studies, Paul Green, discusses Illinois politics with Laurie Stone, president of the Schaumburg Business Association and member of the Community Advisory Board, and Bill Kelley, an attorney with Kelley, Kelley and Kelley. Dr. Green was the featured speaker at the March “Good Morning Schaumburg” breakfast at Chandler’s Chophouse in Schaumburg.

The Flyers Caravan stopped by both the Early Childhood Education Center and the Dining Center last week, signing autographs and handing out schedules.
