President Chuck Middleton presented his annual State of the University Address on Tuesday afternoon at the Schaumburg Campus. Earlier in the day he gave the address at the Chicago Campus. Large crowds at both campuses heard the President describe the many ways the Roosevelt community has been accomplishing the goals set forth in the University’s 2003 Strategic Plan.

Patrick Woods, Roosevelt University’s new vice president for Institutional Advancement and chief advancement officer, greeted guests during a welcoming reception on Monday at the Chicago Campus. Among those visiting with Woods was Janelle Stevenson, assistant director of annual giving.

For the fourth straight year, President Chuck Middleton opened the Institute for Continued Learning's annual winter lecture series. His topic, Follow the Union Jack Road! The Reform Act of 1832 and the Growth of British Democracy," was heard by approximately 200 people at the Schaumburg Campus.

Roosevelt University recently purchased this parking lot at the
southeast corner of Congress Parkway and Wabash Avenue for possible
future development. The 14,000-square-foot surface lot will continue to
be operated by the previous owner.

George Olson, interim dean of the College of Education, welcomed students at a new Student Teacher Orientation on Jan. 16 at the Schaumburg Campus. Students who are preparing to student teach this spring learned about their expectations and student teaching requirements and met with their supervising teacher. Students from the Beijing Statistical Bureau completed their coursework
in the Executive Masters of Public Administration program and graduated
in December 2007. They celebrated at a holiday gathering at the home of
Anna Marie Schuh, assistant professor of Public Administration.

Three of the six members of the RU Online team on Tuesday discussed how best to arrange their new offices in room 711 of the Auditorium Building. Leticia Martinez, program secretary, Douglas Knerr, associate provost for academic programs and distance learning, and Kristin Broadwell, director of distance learning and instructional design, look forward to developing a vibrant, interactive, and creative space for faculty and students interested in online learning. From first-time freshman to returning adults, Roosevelt students have embraced RU Online's focus on interactivity, collaboration, and learning value. RU Online is pleased to welcome Lynette Washington as a program specialist, who will join program coordinators Linda Gunden and Carol Rogowski in service of approximately 1,400 enrollments in fully online courses for the spring semester.

Classroom 782 in the Auditorium Building is being renovated during the semester break. Tony Alvarez from Physical Resources painted the multi-purpose room on Tuesday. It is used by Roosevelt's Theatre Conservatory for classes as well as a wide range of other activities, including rehearsals, dress changes, receptions, and production duties.

Roosevelt's admissions counselors met with potential students in the Congress Lounge on Tuesday, Jan 15 during a transfer credit fair. The students were able to learn about Roosevelt's transfer policies and receive evaluations of their credits from previous colleges attended. A similar fair was held at the Schaumburg Campus on Wednesday.
