The minor provides an
opportunity for the study of women’s experiences and productions,
representations of women, and the analysis of gender throughout history and
across cultures. Students gain an interdisciplinary understanding of the
historical and contemporary issues concerning women, gender, and sexuality.
This minor provides a valuable foundation for pursuing careers in education,
journalism, business, public affairs, the arts, the humanities, and the
social sciences.
Six courses are required
for the minor, including two core courses and four electives. At least two
courses, one at the 300 level, must be completed at Roosevelt University.
The four electives are selected from courses offered by various disciplines
and allow for interdisciplinary breadth and depth. Students should check
regularly with the women’s and gender studies advisor about the status of
approved courses.
