Spanish (See also Languages) Major in Spanish leading to a BA degree Ten courses are required for a major in Spanish—eight beyond the intermediate level. Students who have learned Spanish outside Roosevelt University will be assessed and placed appropriately. Those who have advanced skills may begin immediately on the advanced courses. All courses must be approved by an advisor. All courses in the major must be completed with a grade of C or higher. Students who receive credit for transfer courses from other universities must take at least four Spanish courses at Roosevelt University, depending on the assessment of the advisor. All 200- and 300-level courses are taught in Spanish. Students intending to teach should consult with the College of Education for specific requirements pertaining to certification.
Minor in Spanish Seven courses are required for a minor in Spanish, five courses beyond the beginning level. Students will be required to take Intermediate Spanish 201 or 202, or to place out of 201 and 202 by examination. Spanish minors should take 301 and may choose either 304 or 326. Students who demonstrate that they are at an advanced level through evaluations may be allowed to take other 300-level courses in literature and culture. All courses in the minor must be completed with a grade of C or higher. At least two courses in the minor must be taken at Roosevelt University.
