Post-Doctoral Opportunities
Department of Psychology

11/09 - Madigan Family Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellowship.  The Family Institute and School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University announce The Madigan Family Postdoctoral Clinical Research Fellowship. The fellowship is a two-year, full-time commitment with an ideal start date of July 1, 2010. A later start date may be possible for extenuating circumstances such as internships that do not end until September 1st. We seek applicants with strong interests and backgrounds in psychotherapy research, family systems theory and therapy, and statistical procedures for analyzing change. The applicant should demonstrate a clear commitment to an integrated clinical research career with a focus in understanding how people change in psychotherapy. Under my tutelage, the Postdoc’s research activities will be devoted to the Psychotherapy Change Project. The goal of this project is to develop an empirically grounded theory of how families, couples, and individuals change that can guide and improve our interventions. This research program utilizes the Systemic Inventory of Change (STIC) to assess patient systems and track change over the course of therapy; and the Integrative Therapy Session Report (ITSR) to track therapist behavior over the course of therapy. Sticfeedback.org is an internet based system for feeding patient change data back to therapists and supervisors on demand. Research opportunities within this project are very extensive. The fellow will spend the majority of their time conducting research within the Psychotherapy Change Project with the remainder of their time providing some supervised therapy. The initial stipend is $33,000 plus benefits. Upon completion of the fellowship, fellows should have the supervised clinical hours required to become licensed in the state of Illinois. For a more detailed fellowship description and the application process visit our website at http://www.family-institute.org/education/postgraduate-fellowships. If you know anyone who would be suitable for this position, please forward this message to them. If you or a potential candidate has any questions, please contact me at w-pinsof@northwestern.edu or contact the coordinator of our postdoctoral fellowship, Dr. Anthony Chambers at a-chambers@northwestern.edu. We especially encourage applications from ethnic minorities. The Family Institute and Northwestern University are an AA/EO Employer.
