The graduate program in Languages leads to a Master of Arts degree in Spanish, and is designed to achieve the following objectives:

  • To fulfill the needs of students who wish to pursue advanced or graduate work in a particular language its culture, and literature for intellectual growth and scholarly activities.
  • To prepare graduates to teach a modern foreign language in elementary and secondary schools and to provide advanced study to those now teaching who wish to improve their skills. Note the requirements in professional education courses that are specified by the educational agencies of the cities, counties, and states that the student will have to meet.
  • To accommodate students who take graduate work in other programs and who wish to supplement their work by studies in modern foreign languages and literatures.

In view of these objectives, the program offers courses taught in the following areas:

They also provide the student with the necessary knowledge to teach effectively or translate accurately. Taught in Spanish.
