Human Resource Management - Bachelor of Science The objective of the human resource management program is to equip the student with an education in the fundamentals of management, professional and technical competence in the management of human resources, and the attitudes and motivational skills necessary for developing employees. The emphasis is on managerial techniques and procedures developed by experience and research for harmonizing economic objectives with individual and group needs in business organization. Other courses expand by intensive study the substantive areas in human resource management briefly covered in the introductory course. Psychological and sociological principles, statistical techniques, and practical business economics are blended to produce effective knowledge and skill for the specialist in human resource management. Other departments in the university, such as economics and psychology, offer courses enabling students majoring in human resource management to vary their approach to the study of the employer-employee relationship according to their particular interests. The student majoring in human resource management should be aware that there is no substitute for experience in dealing with people in a work situation. Students are advised to acquire such experience through part-time work or internships. Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Studies : Marilyn Nance, MSA, CPA email: mnance@roosevelt.edu
