Mesirow Lecture Series with Michael Oxley Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration The Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration Mesirow Lecture Series was proud to have Michael Oxley as a guest speaker at the Palmer House Thursday, April 30, 2009. Michael Oxley had a 34-year career in public life, including 25 years of service in the U.S. Congress. During his time in the House of Representatives, he was chair of the Financial Services Committee and sponsored the Sarbanes-Oxley Act to respond to the era of corporate corruption, among other things, and the FACT Act, which brought consumers the free annual credit report. Currently, Oxley is part of the Government Policy Group for Baker Hostetler, a firm that represents many top companies in America. In addition, Oxley serves as vice chairman of NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc.
