ITI Taiwanese Student Visit Walter E. Heller College of Business Administration During April/May, 2009, Roosevelt University hosted 16 graduate students from Taipei's ITI University. These students learned more about the United States and Chicago businesses during their stay.
Joyce Bai, Illinois Governor Quinn, Mandy, and Andrea Raila Three IVCC students joined Andrea Raila whose company Andrea A. Raila & Associates hosts Ken Lin. Ken was also at the event. Andrea worked for Gov Quinn when he was the Cook County Commissioner at the Board of Property Tax Appeals (82-86), in his tax appeal law practice and helped with his book How to Appeal Your Property Taxes Without a Lawyer. Andrea is an appointed Women's Commissioner with the Cook County Commission of Women's Issues under Commissioner Forrest Claypool.
Overview of the Taiwanese Students' Visit Roosevelt University is hosting 16 Taiwanese students during the months of April and May and asked Harris Bank and BMO Capital Markets to sponsor an event. The students are post graduates and have been identified as up and comers in the industry by Taiwan’s government. As part of this program, they are interning at corporate and government offices. Five members of AACE, the Asian American Coalition of Employees affinity group shared their work and cultural experiences and insight on being Taiwanese and working at Harris and BMO Capital Markets. Also, the students asked about the United States and Canadian culture, as well. Many of the students have a marketing background and they were entertained with Harris’ recent marketing campaign – We’re Here to Help.
Taiwanese Students Visit Harris Bank & BMO Capital Markets Trading Floor On Thursday, April 16, The Office of Diversity & Inclusion partnered with Roosevelt University’s School of Business to host 16 Taiwanese graduate students. Jamie Thorsen, Executive Managing Director, Foreign Exchange & China Markets, BMO Capital Markets briefed the students about BMO Capital Markets current and future role in China’s FX market. Dwight Floyd, HR Recruitment & Intake and board member of Roosevelt, welcomed the students, as well. AACE (The Asian American Coalition of Employees) members Peggy Chang, Trisha Wu (both from Harris) and Tim Huang, BMO Capital Markets, discussed the work life and corporate culture. Jamie, Tim and Caroline Wass provided a tour of the BMO CM Trading Floor. Additional AACE members attending were Brandon Tran and Syed Salim – Harris. The students thanked us for our warm greeting.
