Join the Department of Psychology as we celebrate Brain Awareness Week from March 14-18, 2011. The events are open to all members of the Roosevelt University community and to the public:

Monday, March 14th

Raffle Sign Up - 10 am to 6 pm in the Michigan Lobby of the Auditorium Building. Sign up for the drawing for coveted prizes to take place on Wednesday, March 16th at 5:30 pm in the Murray-Green Library, Auditorium Building, 10th floor. Pick up a free "Squeeze my Brain" stress ball!

Student Work Display - 9 am to 6 pm in the Congress Lounge of the Auditorium Building. Check out how students are benefitting from transformational-learning by volunteering to help the neurologically impaired, how learning disability and ADHD relate to the brain, and many other cool brain-related topics!  Come get your morning refreshment from 9-11 am.

Question and Answer Session with Dr. Kan - 3:30 to 4:20 pm in AUD 320.  Dr. Kan is a cognitive psychologist from Villanova University who will be delivering an invited lecture at 4:30pm. Come ask her anything you want about a career in psychology, preparation for graduate school, or other related topics.  

Memory Failures: Lessons from Neuropsychology - 4:30 to 5:30 pm in AUD 309/311 and teleconferenced to SCH 614. Dr. Irene Kan from Villanova University is our esteemed invited speaker. 

 

Tuesday, March 15th

Round Table Discussion with the Midwest Brain Injury Clubhouse - 4:30 to 5:30 pm in the Spertus Lounge (Room 244) of the Auditorium Building. Members from the Clubhouse will be here to share their experiences of sustaining and recovering from their brain injuries. Come be inspired by their strength and resilience!

 

Tuesday, March 15th through Thursday, March 17 th

Student Work Display - 10 am to 6 pm in the Schaumburg Campus Rotunda. Come check out how students are benefitting from transformational-learning by volunteering to help the neurologically impaired, how learning disability and ADHD relate to the brain, and many other cool brain-related topics! 

 

Wednesday, March 16th

Brain Carnival and Raffle Drawing - 4:30 pm to 6 pm In the Murray-Green Library, Auditorium Building, 10th floor. Come check out the fun interactive displays set up by our Psychology Club. The raffle drawing will take place at 5:30 pm. There will be valuable prizes to facilitate your brain health (e.g., bicycle helmets, flash drives, games, etc.). You must sign up for the raffle in the Michigan Lobby of the Auditorium Building, though!

 

Thursday, March 17th

Question and Answer Session with Dr. Lim - 3:30 pm to 4:20 pm in AUD 320. Dr. Lim is a PsyD degree holder who will be delivering an invited lecture at 4:30 pm. Come ask her anything you want about a career in psychology, preparation for graduate school, or other related topics. 

Variable Presentations of Head Trauma in the Combat Veteran Population - 4:30 pm to 5:30 pm in AUD 309/311 and teleconferenced to SCH 614. Dr. Patricia Lim from the Jesse Brown VA Hospital is our esteemed invited speaker. 

 

Friday, March 18th

Student Work Display - 10 am to 6 pm in the Congress Lounge of the Auditorium Building. This is the last opportunity to check out how students are benefitting from transformational-learning by volunteering to help the neurologically impaired, how learning disability and ADHD relate to the brain, and many other cool brain-related topics!
