Meet Jason Rivas (MBA, '05) Los Angeles-area Alumni Ambassador
Jason and Loretta Rivas enjoy the June 2008 alumni event at the Los Angeles Times What did you study at Roosevelt? MBA – Real Estate (Graduated 12/2005) What have you been up to since graduation? Upon the conclusion of my MBA studies in 12/2005, I re-located to Los Angeles to test my knowledge and experiences in a new city and setting. In the past few years, I looked at Los Angeles as a place where I could utilize my Real Estate studies to the fullest and that has certainly been the case. As in Chicago, real estate is also an integral part of the business community and life in general. I began my career in Property Management and have had the fortunate opportunity to apply just about every classroom experience to my everyday tasks. My studies at Roosevelt placed me well ahead in my career aspirations as great successes have been quickly achieved. Currently, I am an Assistant Property Manager for one of the premiere high-rise buildings in downtown Los Angeles, working for New York based Commercial Real Estate giant Brookfield Properties. My experience in Los Angeles has also had a romantic touch, as I recently married my beautiful wife Loretta in March. Loretta has been amazed by my stories of Roosevelt University and has been very supportive in helping me stay connected with the University. Together, we look to make immediate and long term contributions to the Roosevelt family. How has your Roosevelt education impacted your life or career since graduation? Roosevelt University has clearly prepared me in every facet of my life both professionally and personally. The experience I gained from Roosevelt University has helped me achieve every short term goal while also positioning me for long term achievements. I have quickly earned a successful reputation in my industry and earned the respect from my colleagues and associates. In addition and perhaps more significantly, I strongly believe that Roosevelt University helped me to become a positive influence in my community as my studies helped me learn the true importance of integrity and character. Why do you want to stay connected to Roosevelt and get involved as an alumni ambassador? Without question my experience at Roosevelt University was one that holds a very special place in my heart. The faculty, the students, and atmosphere are one like no other in that there truly is a genuine pride in being a part of Roosevelt University. I cannot emphasize enough how passionate I am about in staying connected with the University and committed to sharing my amazing experiences with fellow Roosevelt University alumni. The University provided me with so many learning experiences and wonderful opportunities. I would love to share them with other Roosevelt Alumni while simultaneously building new ones during my post graduate years. In addition, I eagerly look ahead with the hopes of giving back to the Roosevelt family by participation, leadership, and monetarily.
