Welcome New Students!
The Chicago and Schaumburg campuses have professional academic advisors who meet with all new first-year students, new transfer students, and those students who are undecided or who are experiencing academic problems. Those students majoring in Hospitality Management, Music or Theater or are seeking a second bachelors degree should contact their department for advising.
Students are required to see an advisor EVERY TIME they register for classes. The only exception is for Non-degree students/Students at Large who are not required to see an advisor but are encouraged to do so.
New first-year students remain in Academic Advising & Assessment until they have completed most of their general education requirements, have declared a major, and are in Good Academic Standing. New transfer students typically remain in Academic Advising & Assessment until they have completed one semester and/or most of their general education classes, have declared a major, and are in Good Academic Standing. When students have met certain requirements required by their departments, they will be notified by mail or email to see a faculty advisor in their department for advising.
All new undergraduate students are assessed to ensure their readiness to succeed academically at Roosevelt University. If your academic advisor indicates that the Roosevelt University Assessment (RUA) is the required form of assessment, click here to get detailed information about the RUA or schedule a test date.
