Wait List Policy, Procedures and Instructions

The Wait List starts immediately after the maximum for the course is reached.  When you get a message that the class is closed you may select an option of placing yourself on a wait list. The process is the same as for registration; just select a WL code instead of RW from the drop down menu on the registration RU Access form.

IMPORTANT: If you change your mind and do not want to wait for the opening in the class you must remove your name from the wait list.

When the spot in the class becomes available, Colleges will notify the Registrar’s Office if any students on the Wait List should be given the priority to be registered. All requests (Chicago, Schaumburg, and online courses) regarding prioritization of Wait List should be directed via email to:  waitlistsc@roosevelt.edu

The Registrar’s Office will register the students from the WL and notify them about the placement in the class via Roosevelt University E-Mail.  Please check your email box frequently, and also make sure the phone number on file with the University is current.

Instructions

  • Login to RUACCESS
  • Go to the Student Services & Financial Aid menu.
  • Select Registration.
  • Select Term you want to register for.
  • Select Add/Drop Classes.
  • Click Continue after reading the information on the screen.
  • Enter the Registration Code you received from your advisor for the chosen semester (it is also called an Alternate PIN) .  If you are a graduate student in the College of Business Administration you should use your 6-digit birth date as a Registration Code.
  • In the Add/Drop Classes table enter the five-digit Course Reference Number-CRN of the closed and waitlisted class.
  • Click on the Action drop down menu on the left.
  • Select Waitlist  (a WL code will show on your electronic registration form).
  • Click Submit Changes.

This will place you on the waitlist for that class. You will be notified by the Office of the Registrar when a space opens and you are registered. The notification will come via University email or by phone.

Selection Criteria

  1. The Registrar’s Office will wait until 11:00 A.M. each day, to give the Colleges an opportunity to review the Wait List.

  2. Since the Colleges communicate their priorities after analyzing the students’ graduation status, major, seniority etc. after 11:00 A.M. the Registrar’s Office will register students from the top of the list.  Students will be notified via RU E-Mail.

  3. If there a conflict between the wait listed course and other classes on the student's schedule, the Registrar’s Office will assume that the wait listed course is the one that the student wants.  The course which conflicts with a wait listed class will be removed from the student's schedule.

A time conflict:  Student will be registered for the wait listed course and dropped from the course causing the time conflict.

There is a registration for another section of the same course: the Registrar will assume that the wait listed course is the preferred one and drop the previous section.

Registration exceeds the maximum number of semester hours allowed:  The student will be contacted via RU E-Mail. If there is no response, no change will be made.  The student will be removed from the Wait List.

Permissions and Exceptions

The only permissions accepted by the Registrar’s Office for enrollment into closed classes will be those of the Approved College Representatives.  No other persons, including individual instructors, will be authorized to make exceptions.  Also, after the class has met, an instructor's written or e-mailed permission to join the class late is required.
