Roosevelt University faculty members are invited to propose research projects in which undergraduate honors students can participate. The Honors Program will make the list of faculty and projects available to undergraduate honors students. Students will then apply for stipends to participate in the programs of their choice. A stipend at a rate of $8.25 per hour is projected.
Faculty may propose research in any discipline. The projects proposed by faculty should be designed to allow the students to learn about research techniques and the processes involved in various stages of research. The students should not be merely an extra set of hands to perform routine tasks like photocopying, typing, data entry and library searches, although these tasks may occasionally be a part of the research process. Science faculty should include laboratory and/or field research experiences.
Faculty sponsors will interview and select student researchers. Background materials and readings should be provided to the participating students before they begin the project so that they can place the research within the context of the field and current research. Some students may choose to extend this research for use as their senior thesis for the Honors Program. The research proposed are eligible to be carried out any semester from fall through summer. Faculty desiring undergraduate researchers should complete the Faculty Research Form and include a brief description of their research goals.
