Posted: 10/01/2013
Adolfo Laurenti, deputy chief economist and managing director at Mesirow Financial, will address area business and real estate leaders on emerging conditions and trends in Europe that may impact the U.S. economy on Oct. 15 at  Roosevelt University, 430 S. Michigan Ave., Chicago.

A leading expert on the global economy who recently returned from a tour of major European capitals, Laurenti will present “What Industry and Central Bank Leaders are saying: A candid report from a September tour of European capitals” during Roosevelt’s Gerald Fogelson Forum on Real Estate.

Sponsored by the University’s Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate, the Gerald Fogelson Forum on Real Estate brings together Chicago business, real estate and public-policy leaders each fall and spring to discuss issues impacting the region’s economy and local business.

“While we are seeing an uptick in commercial real estate activity of all types, the economic recovery remains subject to a number of international trends and events that Mr. Laurenti understands and will be able to highlight for us,” said Jon DeVries, director of the Marshall Bennett Institute of Real Estate and the moderator of the upcoming Fogelson  Forum.

Cost for the fall forum is $25. Commercial real estate brokers, lenders, property managers, tax attorneys, developers, community leaders and public officials interested in economic trends and prospects are encouraged to attend.

The event begins with a 5 p.m. networking reception in Roosevelt’s second-floor Congress Lounge, and will be followed by a 5:40 p.m. to 7 p.m. presentation by Laurenti, who is author of the Themes on the Global Markets newsletter and a frequent commentator in the financial press.

Formerly an associate economist at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO where he tracked economic trends in the banking sector, Laurenti was the Chicago Council on Global Affairs Emerging Leader for 2011, an Earhart Foundation Fellow and also received a Washington Society of  Investments Analysts Scholarship and a Graduate Scholarship for Excellence in Academia from the Economic Club of Washington, D.C.
