Recent star of Roosevelt's Jazz and Performance Studies program performs with Prince on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Posted: 10/26/2012
Hannah Ford, a former jazz performance major in Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, appeared Tuesday, Oct. 23, on ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! as drummer with Prince.

Ford, 22, has been a long-time student of Roosevelt Assistant Professor of Jazz Paul Wertico.

“Prince is one of the biggest stars in music. To have a student from our program land a gig like this is spectacular. It’s what every teacher dreams for his or her students,” said Wertico.

Ford was an instrumental jazz performance major in CCPA between 2008 and 2010. A singer and songwriter with her own band, Bellevue Suite, as well as the one-woman “Peace, Love & Drums” multi-media show, Ford was added as a guest drummer in Prince’s touring band, the New Power Generation, in August, according to DRUM! magazine.

She credits seven-time Grammy Award winner Wertico, who is internationally known as one of the world’s most versatile drummers, with preparing her well for her rising career as a musician and rock star.
