Counseling Center director selected for prestigious Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology

Posted: 05/29/2012
Susan Stock, director of Roosevelt University’s Counseling Center, has been selected to participate in The American Psychological Association’s Leadership Institute for Women in Psychology.

Stock, a resident of Oak Park, will join a select group of mid-career women from across the country in July in Orlando, Fla., for management leadership training through the APA Institute, which is now in its fifth year. The Leadership Institute also includes a meeting in Washington, D.C., in March 2013, as well as ongoing involvement through webinars and conference calls over a 12-month period.

“I am excited about this opportunity, which I anticipate will enhance my leadership skills particularly with regard to provision of clinical services at the University,” said Stock, who has a PhD in counseling psychology and has been the director of Roosevelt’s Counseling Center since 2008.

As director of the Counseling Center, Stock directs 15 people, including psychologists, psychology trainees, clerical staff and student workers, and oversees all counseling operations at both the Chicago and Schaumburg campuses.

The mission of the AWP Institute is to prepare, support and empower women psychologists as leaders to promote positive changes in institutional, organizational and practice settings.  A little more than 100 female psychologists from all over the country have gone through the program to date.
