Roosevelt University hosts panel discussion on A New New Deal – Obama year one

On February 20, in honor of Black History Month, Roosevelt University’s Department of Economics and the Center for New Deal Studies will co-sponsor a panel discussion on the first year of the Obama presidency. The discussion will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in room 232 of Roosevelt’s Auditorium Building. The event is free and open to the public.
The panelists will include: Amy B. Dean, co-author of A New New Deal: How Regional Activism Will Reshape the American Labor Movement; Tom Balanoff, president of the Service Employees International Union Illinois Council; Judith LeBlanc, field organizer for Peace Action and former national co-chair of United for Peace and Justice; Mel Rothenberg of the Chicago Political Economy Group and Chicago Jobs with Justice; Anne Scheetz with Physicians for a National Health Program; and Cristobal Cavazos with the Immigrant Solidarity DuPage.
Panelists will evaluate the Obama administration’s performance on the economy, health-care, immigration and war-related issues.
