Join Roosevelt University and the College of Arts & Sciences to hear Professor Peter Myers, Department of Political Science, University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire for A Dream Deeply Rooted in the American Dream: Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Great Speech Revisited. The College of Arts & Sciences is especially proud to host this event on the fiftieth anniversary of Dr. King's historic "I Have a Dream" speech which was given from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom. this important speech was heralded as a major, defining moment in the Civil Rights Movement, and the recording of the oration is included in the United States National Recording Registry. Professor Myers, author of Frederick Douglas: Race and Rebirth of American Liberalism and Our Only Star and Compass: Locke and the Struggle for Political Rationality, is currently working on a book on Dr. King.
