This organization in Rolling Meadows honors, supports and recognizes the siblings of children who have cancer. Volunteers are needed for the Courage Trophy Project, in which they will be putting together and packaging personalized trophies for children enrolled with Super Sibs. |

Almost Home is an organization dedicated to rescuing stray and abandoned animals from Elk Grove Village, Addison, Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Palatine, Barrington, Barrington Hills, South Barrington, Inverness, Wood Dale and it's surrounding areas. They also save animals from high Kill Shelters throughout the state of Illinois and other states.Volunteers should have experience with animals and be comfortable around them. Clearbrook |
Clearbrook provides services to more than 3,300 children and adults with developmental disabilities. Volunteers will telephone people from a list provided by Clearbrook to see whether there is interest in volunteering to work at Clearbrook’s May 2011 fundraiser, Jelly Belly Days. |

Kenneth Young Center |
This center in Schaumburg assists people who receive help solving problems through assessment, counseling, psychiatry, recovery and other mental-health support services. Volunteers will prepare resale-shop items and clean display boxes, polish furniture and price items. |
Ned Brown Preserve/ |
Known as Busse Woods, this 3,700-acre forest preserve in northwest suburban Cook County includes Busse Lake and many nature trails. Volunteers will spend the day at the site picking up litter. |
USA Cares |
USA Cares provides financial and advocacy assistance to US military service personnel, veterans and their families. Volunteers will create fleece "lap wraps," write notes of thanks and pack up items for shipping that have been donated to USA Cares for their troop support programs. You will be helping soldiers and veterans that are currently undergoing physical therapy at VA Hospitals. Volunteers will work on the Schaumburg Campus. Since this group will not travel by bus to an off-campus site, this group has a slightly different schedule: Work starts at 10:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m. Please check in at the Schaumburg Campus before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, to find out the room number. |
Blue Sky Inn

Blue Sky Inn is a non-profit organization that works to empower Chicago’s homeless youth. Its facilities, including a bakery and café, provide job training and opportunities for creative expression. Volunteers are needed to help out at the bakery doing paint touch ups and/or landscaping. |
Casa Aztlan Community Center

This established community organization in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood provides residents with assistance on immigration, citizenship, English, literacy and computer training and also helps them adapt to life in a new urban area. Volunteers will paint, remodel and organize the center’s library. |

For more than 25 years, this alternative high school on Chicago’s west side has served high school dropouts and those who might not otherwise have an opportunity to get a high school diploma. Volunteers are needed for cleaning, organizing, painting, yard work and other tasks. |

LYDIA provides a diverse range of programs including residential treatment, foster care, counseling and parenting classes. Volunteers are needed for cleaning, organizing, painting, fence repair and yard work. |
Mondog |
Mondog's mission is to ensure Chicago residents and their canine friends have a fun, clean, and safe beach experience. Mondog is committed to the ongoing preservation and improvement of Montrose Dog Beach through owner education, volunteer support, and community partnerships. Volunteers must like dogs. Volunteers will clean up the dog beach. Gloves and trash bags will be provided. |
St. Michael the Archangel |
Volunteers will be painting public school classrooms at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic church in Chicago’s Back of the Yards, an economically-challenged, Hispanic immigrant neighborhood. Rental of the classrooms to the local public school serves as an important source of income for the parish. Please wear painting clothes. Brushes, rollers, paint, and other equipment will be provided. |
Urban Art Retreat |
The retreat in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood encourages people from diverse backgrounds to share similarities and learn from each other’s differences by offering retreat space, programming and events for all who are interested in art. Volunteers are needed for indoor and outdoor clean-up tasks, including gardening. |
