International Workshops, Activities, and Cultural Events

CPT & OPT Employment Workshop

Learn how you can work off-campus through approved internships, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), while you are a student and Optional Practical Training (OPT) after you graduate.  Workshops will be scheduled for the fall semester.  

If you have specific questions, please schedule an appointment with the international office.


Income Tax Workshop for International Students

All international students & scholars in F and J non-immigrant status are required to fill out income tax forms each year.  If you were in the United States in 2013, you must file 2013 taxes, even if you did not earn any money. More information about this workshop will be available in February 2014.

Date:               Tuesday, March 4, 2014 – 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Location: Columbia College Chicago – Collins Hall
624 S. Michigan Avenue, Room 602

International tax specialists, Sergio Guzman and Hector Santos, will be present to explain your tax responsibilities and go over the forms that you will need to complete. 

The tax deadline is Monday, April 15, 2014!

Please bring the following documents with you to the workshop (if you have them)

  • Form W-2
  • Form 1099
  • Form 1042-S
  • Copy of last year’s return or tax forms (if you filed taxes in 2011)
  • Passport
  • I-20 / DS-2019
  • Record of dates you entered and left the US during 2012
