Keep your Windows PC patched with Automatic Windows Updates

Windows Update is a feature that downloads the latest patches from Microsoft's site ("patches" are updates to various components in a program that fix problems). Your computer should be configured to automatically download and install the latest updates. It is imperative that you intall all of the latest patches to keep your computer up-to-date.

Settings for Automatic Updates

Start the Control Panel and click Automatic Updates (see window below)

Automatic Updates should be set to "Automatic" and "Each day."
