AUD 576G: Academic Technology Center

The Academic Technology Center is both a collection of services and a specially equipped technology lab available to Roosevelt faculty. Center Services facilitate the use of instructional technology and help instructors make the best use of these resources.  If you would like to learn more, have a special request, or want to schedule an appointment, please contact the MMS office.

Our Services: Data Conversion; Recording, Editing and Mastering; Copying; Hardware and Software Evaluation; Technical Training.

Data Conversion

If you want to convert instructional materials into digital formats for use with current classroom technology, we can help. Typically the output files are stored to hard drive, flash drive, CD or DVD. In many cases we can provide a staff member to handle the process for you, but we can also show you how to do it yourself (which is often faster). We currently support digitization of these materials:

  • Documents
  • Transparencies
  • 35mm slides
  • VHS videotapes
  • Audio cassettes
  • Vinyl audio disks
  • Floppy disks
  • ZIP disks

Recording, Editing, and Mastering

IMS has equipment and trained staff to assist with the digital audio or video recording of events for use in the classroom. In some cases we can handle the recording process, or we can show you how to use the equipment yourself. We support the following:

  • Lectures
  • Performances
  • Podcasts
  • Instructional video
  • Special events

Copying

Need multiple copies of digital materials for your students (such as CDs and DVDs)? We can provide some copying and mastering services. Large-scale duplication is outsourced and costs are passed to the requesting department. All requests must be in full compliance with copyright law.

Hardware and Software Evaluation

The IMS office occasionally acquires demo versions of hardware and software for potential use in the classroom. All faculty are welcome to visit the IMS lab to learn more about these tools and try them out in their classes. In some cases, IMS will sponsor demo sessions for interested faculty.

Technical Training

The Academic Technology Center offers classes in a variety of instructional technology that is available here at Roosevelt.  You can browse our actechCatalog.  We can also provide one-on-one hands-on training to faculty in the use of the hardware and software tools owned by the University. Contact Dave Basener, dbasener@roosevelt.edu for further information.
