Blackboard is a learning management tool that uses the Blackboard Learn Suite™ of software to provide a common, easy-to-use framework for faculty to develop and disseminate course materials to students. Not only can a variety of content be uploaded into Blackboard for each course, it also includes online discussion boards, surveys, quizzes, and a robust Grade Center. Additionally, any written assignments can be submitted by students through Blackboard and instructors can use the online mark-up tools to grade the assignments and provide written feedback.
Blackboard is available to “all” instructors teaching courses at Roosevelt. That includes online courses, traditional face-to-face courses and blended courses. By default, Blackboard course shells are created automatically each semester for all university courses that appear in Roosevelt’s class schedules. Student enrollment takes place automatically as well, and is updated every two hours.
If you are teaching a course at Roosevelt for the current term your course will be automatically created for you. It will be ready for you to start uploading your content and building your course. It is optional whether an instructor wishes to use their Blackboard course, but we invite all instructors to take advantage of this additional educational resource.
