How to apply for graduation

Apply to graduate for the term in which you expect to complete your degree requirements.  Most students can apply for graduation online through RU Access. (See the exceptions in the section below, "Who cannot apply online?")  All requirements must be completed by the end of the graduation term.  If you do not complete all requirements by the end of the term, we will resubmit/roll your application for graduation for the next term, unless you inform us otherwise.

Steps to apply for graduation through RU Access:

• Log in to RU ACCESS
• Click on Registration and Other Student Services.  
• Click on Student Records.
• Click on Graduation Application.
• First screen will be the Curriculum Selection.  The latest term listed in the drop down menu represents your curriculum term. For example, if you have changed majors you must first select the latest curriculum term to ensure the correct degree record is pulled.   Hit "submit" to begin the rest of the application.  Only one application is open at a time so you can only apply online during the designated time frame for that term.
• Read the directions carefully and view your degree and address information. If all is correct, check Accept Application button.
• Click Submit.

Applying for late graduation (Paper Form) - A $100 late application fee will apply.

• Print out the Late Graduation Application (Degree or Credential).
• All late applications must be signed by your department chair.
• Completed forms must be returned to the Graduation Services office prior to the Late Application deadline posted for each graduation term.  Applications received after deadline will be processed for the following term-No Exceptions.
• There is currently no late fee for filing a late application.

Participation in Commencement

Roosevelt University holds two ceremonies, in May and December.  Eligibility for participation in Commencement is as follows:

• Fall graduates participate in the December Commencement.
• Spring graduates participate in the May Commencement.
• Summer graduates participate in the December Commencement.

Who cannot apply online?

• Students applying for multiple degrees for the same graduation date should download an application and submit it to the Registrar's Office at either campus in person, by mail or fax.
• Students applying for a credential should download an application and submit it to the Registrar's Office at either campus by mail, fax, or in person.
• Students in the PsyD program applying for Masters Degrees in Psychology.
