University Senate Meeting

The entire University community is welcome to attend and join in our deliberations, though only senators may make motions or cast votes.

The primary work of this year’s Senate will be developing and approving a new Faculty Handbook. The handbook specifies University policies pertaining to academic freedom, tenure and promotion, academic due process, and shared governance. We will discuss and vote on different sections of the handbook at each meeting. We expect to have at least one hour for this discussion next week.

To maximize discussion time for our primary agenda item, most reports typically presented at the Senate will be made available on line in advance of the meeting, and will not be presented orally. These reports are grouped under “consent agenda” in the larger meeting agenda below.

Consent agenda items, as well as a draft of the Faculty Handbook, Part I, Sections A through D, will be posted soon to the intranet for all to review. As soon as they are posted, a broadcast email will link you to that site.
