Guatemala: Spring 2012

  • CHS 411 Social and Cultural Foundations
  • PSYC 644  Multicultural Psychology

A 10-day international study trip to Guatemala from May 5 - 15, 2012 is an integral part of this course.  Led by Dr. Roberto Clemente, students will be visiting the Highlands (Altiplano) by Lake Atitlan and staying at the Universidad del Valle's dormitories.  Students will visit several indigenous Mayan villages, such as San Pedro, San Marcos de la Laguna, and Panajachel, that surround Lake Atitlan.  Members of these villages speak different Mayan languages and dialects.

Classes will be held in the mornings and evenings with tours in the afternoon.  Museums, churchs, and markets are on the list of destinations students will visit.  Workshops led by our students will provide International Service Learning Activites to school teachers and middle and high school children in Guatemala.
